PLAYSTATION

Can you play Call of Duty: Ghosts on PS5?

Backward compatibility, not a remaster. The Digital Edition PS5 does not accept the PS4 disc.

From my notes. PlayStation's own backward-compatibility page is the sentence I used for the disc drive. The store page for the PS4 Gold Edition, checked 23 October 2026, showed $39.99, a 1–2 player local range, up to 18 online, and a PlayStation Plus requirement for online multiplayer. A PS3 disc is a different product. I am not claiming a PS3 disc boots on PS5.

What you need

A PS4 copy, on disc or already in your library as a digital PS4 entitlement, and a PS5 that can read the format you own. Disc owners need the drive.
Online multiplayer requires an active PlayStation Plus membership, per the store page. The campaign does not.

Questions

Does Ghosts have a PS5 version?

No native PS5 build was listed. You play the PS4 version through backward compatibility.

Will a PS3 disc work on PS4 or PS5?

The PS3 release is a separate edition. The compatibility note I used is about PS4 games on PS5, not PS3 discs.

Do I need PS Plus?

For online multiplayer, yes, according to the PlayStation store page. Not for the campaign.
