The Federation in Call of Duty: Ghosts

A near-future war, not a Modern Warfare task force. The orbital strike comes first. The invasion comes ten years later.

From my notes. I reread the Wikipedia plot summary and the Fandom setting notes before writing this, because search pages often flatten the Federation into "South America" and stop. The sources name a Federation of the Americas and use Venezuela as a campaign location, including Caracas in Federation Day and Legends Never Die. I am not upgrading that into a claim that every member state is listed in the game.

ODIN, then the Federation

The backstory is an orbital weapons platform called ODIN. After it is turned on the United States, the country is left with No Man's Land and a reduced military. The Ghosts are the special-operations remnant.
The opposing force is the Federation of the Americas. Campaign missions take you to Los Angeles, San Diego, Caracas, the Yucatan, the Andes, Antarctica, the Atlantic, Rio de Janeiro and the Pacific. Those place names are the evidence. A full member-state chart is not in the sources I checked.

Why the Federation is a problem in-game

The story's answer is industrial scale plus Rorke, who knows how the Ghosts work because he used to lead them. Players asking why the Federation is "so strong" are usually asking about that plot device, not a real-world order of battle.
Nothing here is a claim about present-day Venezuela or any real government. It is fiction written for a 2013 campaign. The mission list is on the campaign missions page.
