MASK
Ghost's skull mask
A costume, not a piece of military equipment with a documented origin story I can quote from an Activision bible.
From my notes. Fandom describes the original Ghost with a skull-pattern balaclava. The reboot swaps that for a rigid plate, and the plate is not identical in every game from 2022 to 2026. I am not going to invent the workshop that "gave him the skull." The short answer to that search is: the fiction does not provide a single origin I could verify.
What changes between games
2009 marketing: balaclava, headset, sunglasses. Reboot: a skull plate over the lower face, with different straps and damage in later seasons.
If you want to buy or build one, use the costume guide. This page is the design history.
Questions
How did Ghost get the skull mask?
The games do not give one verified origin story. Treat forum answers as fiction on top of fiction.
Is the 2009 mask the same object as the 2022 plate?
No. One is a printed balaclava. The later one is a hard plate.
Which one should a costume copy?
Decide which game you are copying. The costume page separates them.
