CAST

Call of Duty: Ghosts characters

The squad you fight beside in the 2013 campaign. Simon "Ghost" Riley is a different person and is not in this list as a story character.

From my notes. I kept two notes open while writing this: the Wikipedia cast summary and the Fandom game page. Every time a search for "Riley" came up, I wrote down whether the sentence was about the dog or about Simon. On this page, Riley is the dog.

The Walker family and the squad

Logan Walker is the player character for most of the 18 missions. David "Hesh" Walker is his brother. Elias Walker, their father, leads the Ghosts and is playable in Legends Never Die.
Thomas Merrick, Keegan P. Russ and Ajax round out the squad you meet in the opening missions. Some missions hand you someone else: Baker in Ghost Stories, a pilot callsign in Birds of Prey, Badger-Two in Severed Ties, and Sgt. Thompson on the LOKI station.

Rorke and the dog

Gabriel T. Rorke was a Ghosts captain before the Federation captured him. He is the campaign antagonist. Whether he dies is answered, with spoilers, on the ending page.
Riley is a German Shepherd attached to Logan's squad. You control the dog during parts of No Man's Land. He is not Simon Riley. The name collision is explained on Ghost vs Ghosts.

Questions

Who is the dog in Ghosts?

Riley, a German Shepherd. Not the Modern Warfare character who uses the same surname.

Who is the villain?

Gabriel T. Rorke, a former Ghosts captain working for the Federation.

Can I play as Simon Riley?

Not in the campaign. A Classic Ghost custom soldier was a preorder extra. The character's own pages are under Simon Riley.
