Does Ghost Die in Call of Duty?
There is no single answer. The 2009 Modern Warfare 2 timeline and the 2019 reboot are different stories with different endings for Simon Riley.
From my notes.Keep release years separate from story dates: the original Ghost is killed by Shepherd in Loose Ends in Modern Warfare 2 (2009). Reboot Ghost survives into MWIII, but the MW4 community wiki lists his status as Unknown on 23 October 2026. The official operator skin does not resolve that fate.
2009 timeline
Lieutenant Simon Riley, Task Force 141, is killed during Loose Ends. Shepherd shoots him and Roach, then their bodies are burned. Soap is not the other victim in this scene. The wiki dates the event to 15 August 2016 in the story calendar.
Later original-timeline games do not bring him back as a living character. Revenge for that killing is Soap and Price's story, not a later Ghost mission.
Reboot timeline
The reboot Ghost, played by Samuel Roukin from Modern Warfare II onward, has a separate history from the man killed in Loose Ends. The reboot wiki currently lists his MW4 status as Unknown.
A Ghost Operator Skin on the MW4 store page is a cosmetic. It is not evidence that the 2009 death was undone.
Questions
Does Ghost die in Modern Warfare 2 (2022)?
No. The 2022 reboot game is a different timeline. The death in Loose Ends belongs to the 2009 game.
Is Ghost alive in 2026?
The reboot has a separate story. Ghost appears through MWIII; the MW4 community wiki lists his status as Unknown. Do not reuse the 2009 death scene as a reboot answer.
