Fix DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

The error string means the graphics driver stopped responding. Treat every suggestion below as a community report, not as an Activision patch note.

From my notes. I read the summary of the Steam thread cited in the research notes and I am not going to rank the replies. The ones that repeat are: update or roll back the GPU driver, turn off overlays, and drop the resolution or the frame cap. PCGamingWiki also notes a frame-rate cap near 91 FPS on this game, which is a reason people touch the config at all.

A careful order

Update the GPU driver from the vendor, not from a forum attachment. Close overlays. If it still hangs, lower the resolution in the config the game already writes, then test.
If the hang is only in multiplayer, remember the separate warning: PCGamingWiki discourages online play on this PC build because of security issues. A crash fix is not a reason to ignore that.

Questions

What does device hung mean?

Windows is telling you the graphics device stopped responding and was reset.

Is there an official patch for it?

I did not find one dated notice that names this error and a single fix.

Should I install a "fix" exe?

No.
