Fix stretched widescreen and FOV

An 80-degree figure is the adjustable multiplayer FOV ceiling, not a verified default for every mode. Fix the display resolution independently of FOV.

From my notes. The research notes identify 80 degrees as the multiplayer slider maximum, not the campaign default. NVIDIA's PC guide gives a reproducible custom-resolution procedure and the exact config names; PCGamingWiki is useful for game-specific compatibility context, but is currently blocking direct command-line access. I will not call the single-player default 80 or recommend third-party FOV tools in multiplayer.

Set the right resolution first

On PC, open the game's Options > Video menu and choose the monitor's native resolution and aspect ratio. In Windows, check Settings > System > Display > Advanced display for the panel's active resolution and refresh rate; choose a refresh rate the display actually supports.
If the native mode is missing, exit the game and back up the files in the install folder's `players2` directory. Edit `config.cfg` for single-player or `config_mp.cfg` for multiplayer, setting `seta r_displayMaxWidth` and `seta r_displayMaxHeight` to the desired pixel width and height. For example, a 2560 × 1080 mode uses width 2560 and height 1080. Save, relaunch, then choose the matching mode in the video menu. NVIDIA's guide notes these files can affect one another; back them up and verify the result rather than blindly making them read-only.
For an ultrawide or multi-monitor HUD mismatch, the older NVIDIA guide documents Flawless Widescreen as an additional HUD adjustment, but its present-day compatibility is unverified. A resolution tweak changes output dimensions; it does not guarantee an undistorted HUD in every aspect ratio.
FOV is separate from aspect ratio. PCGamingWiki documents an adjustable ceiling of 80 degrees in multiplayer only; that is not the default, and campaign does not share that multiplayer slider. Do not use an FOV changer in multiplayer: PCGamingWiki warns it can result in a ban. See its Call of Duty: Ghosts technical page.

Questions

Why is the image stretched?

Usually the rendered aspect ratio does not match the display. Fix resolution before you touch field of view.

Is 80 the default field of view?

No. PCGamingWiki labels 80 degrees the adjustable maximum in multiplayer only. It is not the default; the campaign default is a separate, narrower view, and I could not verify a sourced numeric value for it.

Can I unlock the frame rate?

The research notes report a multiplayer cap near 91 FPS. This guide does not offer an untested unlock or third-party multiplayer modification.
