Every Call of Duty Game Ghost Appears In
Two timelines, two lists. A Classic Ghost preset in the 2013 game is a cosmetic, not a campaign role.
From my notes. This list separates campaign appearances, multiplayer operators and cosmetics. The original MW2 Ghost is a supporting NPC, not its campaign player character. Reboot Ghost is mentioned in the 2019 campaign and becomes a playable operator with the 2020 Season Two release.
Original timeline
Modern Warfare 2 (2009): supporting non-player squad member, killed in Loose Ends. Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered (2020) retells that campaign. The Ghost comic is a separate tie-in, not a playable mission.
Call of Duty: Ghosts (2013) added a Classic Ghost preset for create-a-soldier or preorder content. He is not in the Logan Walker campaign.
Reboot timeline
Modern Warfare (2019) mentions Ghost at the campaign ending; he becomes playable in Multiplayer and Warzone with Season Two in 2020. In Modern Warfare II (2022) and Modern Warfare III (2023), he is playable in selected campaign missions and as an operator. MW4 official marketing lists an operator skin; this page does not infer campaign playability from it.
Call of Duty: Mobile uses reboot-era Ghost skins. Those are on the Mobile page, not a port of the 2013 campaign.

Yes. The 2009 character dies in that game. The reboot is a new version of the same name.
